The uilleann pipes are the native bagpipes of Ireland, and are a more recent instrument than their Scottish cousins—they’ve only been in existence in their present form since the 18th century, but in that time they’ve become an enduring symbol of Irish culture. They are an indoor instrument, meant for accompanying dancing, and are quieter and more flexible than the Great Highland Bagpipes (the Scottish pipes with which most people are familiar). On this page you’ll find some samples of my piping as well as a few tunes on tin whistle, flute, and bodhran; to find out more about the instrument, visit the FAQ page.
